Directions
By car
Exit highway A8 at the junction Stuttgart-Vaihingen and drive in northward direction Vaihingen on the highway A831 and B14. After the tunnel, take the right lane and leave the highway at exit Universität. Turn left at the traffic lights.
Turn right into street Pfaffenwaldring and then turn left. There you will find the car park.
Note: The IIS is located within the low-emission zone of Stuttgart (information about the low-emmission zone, information about the prohibition of diesel cars). Please consider this if necessary, upon arrival.
By train
We recommend buying a ticket to Stuttgart-Vaihingen Universität to avoid extra costs for the S-Bahn.
After your arrival at Stuttgart main station follow the large green S to the underground station of the S-Bahn. If you have not already bought a ticket to Universität, you can buy a ticket for one zone at the ticket machines inside the main station building. All trains to Universität leave at platform 101:
- S1 to Herrenberg
- S2 to Filderstadt or airport
- S3 to Vaihingen or airport
S-Bahn trains run regularly every 5 to 10 minutes. Travel time is about 10 minutes.
By plane
The arrival terminal at Stuttgart airport is at level 1 (deepest level of airport building). The entrance to the train station is marked with a large green S. Ticket machines are available on the way from the airport building to the platform. You need a ticket for two zones. Take one of the following trains:
- S1 to Plochingen or Kirchheim
- S2 to Schorndorf
- S3 to Backnang
The travel time to station Universität is about 17 minutes.
